This search for opinions from the other side of the curtain leads the documentarian Leona Goldstein from Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso, and Mali up to the southern European border between Morocco and Spain. She interviews deported refugees, human rights activists, and artists about their visions on the "Utopia Europe", the chances, and a global equilibrium. The focus of the film is on the responsibility of Europe concerning the African "crises", and on the future of the claim on asylum under international law.
The opportunity for comment on their situation is given to, amongst others, Halidou Ouedraogo, former President of the Interafrican Union for Human Rights, Aminata Traoré, spokeswoman of the intellectual anti-globalization movement in Africa and former Minister of Culture for Mali, Tiken Jah Fakoly, musician critical of the system and role model for the African youth movement.
